True Wellness Trinity
A little over a year and a half ago I began writing on a regular basis as an outlet for the new material I was learning in the nutrition world as I was taking classes to become a Nutritional Therapy Consultant (NTC). I have written on a variety of topics, trying to teach people about how their body works, good food choices and some lifestyle management pointers. On occasion, mostly during a holiday season, I have addressed deeper topics like, how our minds work, our purpose on the planet and our eternal destiny.
In addition to the time I spend writing, I spend time with clients and students listening to their stories, symptoms and hopes for a healthier life. I use modalities that I have learned through my nutrition school to test for deficiencies and ask questions about behavior and habits. Most of these modalities and therefore my recommendations are grounded in the physical needs of the human body; what may be deficient or inhibiting a healthy daily experience.
My personal experience and client interactions have led me to realize something I already knew in the back of my mind. You cannot just treat the physical body with physical solutions and expect lasting wellness. The physical body is complex and encompasses not just the physical elements but also the mental and the spiritual. I say that I knew this in the back of my mind because way back when I chose the name for my business, I decided to call it “Huber Family Wellness” with a subtitle of “Mind, Body, Soul”. Deep down I wanted to not just help the person with their physical sickness but to also help them with their emotional and spiritual issues. My passions lie with all three areas because I have worked through many of my own issues in each area and want to see others experience the wellness and freedom that I have experienced.
Many physical ailments are caused by what is going on in the mind and/or spirit. This is called a psychosomatic illness. The mind and the spirit are very powerful and clearly effect the physical body in illnesses like depression, anxiety disorders, addictions, chronic fatigue, insomnia, digestive issues, ulcers, and chemical/environmental sensitivities. Many of these issues can be resolved when the person works on their mental and spiritual state. There are often blockages of anger, fear and unforgiveness that need to be dealt with to allow the mind and heart to function freely.
These blocks and emotional triggers often cause a stress response within our physical body that pumps out adrenaline and cortisol wreaking havoc on systems of the body. Stress has been blamed for as many as 75% of doctor’s visits and is often the cause of unexplained symptoms and ailments.
What does it take to work through the stress and the emotional/spiritual baggage of our lives to find freedom and healing? It takes a commitment to keep searching until you find the answers you seek. It takes a raw vulnerability to look within and face the ugly side of ourselves and work through our own issues. It takes gut wrenching honesty and courage, but the payoff is phenomenal!
The freedom and wholistic healing can be incredible, blowing your mind beyond anything you ever expected. Your whole life could change… and it may need to. The results are peace, patience, kindness, grace, security, significance and an overwhelming sense of belonging. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it?
